Requirements For Participation:
- The student must be enrolled at an NYCPS school and currently be in Grades 3-7.
- For Concert Band, the student must play one of these instruments. Additionally, they must have played this instrument as their primary instrument for at least one year this school year. If selected, students will participate in a 10-minute placement meeting in June at I.S. 51 to be matched with the correct level ensemble. Date TBA. Please note that the piano, guitar, violin, viola, and cello are not concert band instruments.
- Students are expected to bring their own instruments except drums, tuba, and upright bass.
- For Dance and Theater, students must love the art form.
Program Details:
- Location: I.S. 51, 80 Willowbrook Rd, Staten Island, NY 10302
- Days: Monday through Thursday
- Time: 8:45 AM to 12:30 PM

- Concert Band (75 seats): July 6- July 30*
- Dance (21 seats): July 6- July 22*
- Theater (24 seats): July 13- July 29*
- To apply to the lottery, parents or guardians need to complete this form by 11:59 PM on April 17, 2026.
Lottery Details and Seat Announcements:
To promote equity and access, the number of available seats per art form will be divided equally among three geographic zones across the borough. Students will be selected by lottery within a zone determined by their school address. Announcements will be made via email on April 25th. The first 10 students per art form who are not selected will be placed on the waitlist, and if a spot opens, they will be notified within the first week of the program (July 6th).
Attendance:
Participating students must commit to attending at least 80% of sessions. Students with 80% or more attendance during the Summer of 2026 will be guaranteed a seat in next summer’s program.
Busing:
Students living beyond walking distance of I.S. 51 may request busing to and from the site. Every effort will be made to accommodate requests, but busing is not guaranteed. If you would like busing, please indicate this on the registration form.
